DUTCH PRODUCTIONS SONG WINS THREE AWARDS

Boom Boom Boom the song written and produced by Saint Lucian Courtney “Curty” Louis won Song of the Year and Best Music Video at the recently held Tha Underground awards in Bermuda. In all Boom Boom Boom walked away with three awards including the Best New Artist trophy for Tabia – the Vincy artiste who sings it.
The song is featured on the Boom Boom riddim produced by Louis for his Dutch Productions House and co-produced by Francis Leebo De Lima of Heights Music. It was nominated for five awards at the July 10th awards show. On winning the awards, Louis commented, “I feel honoured the song received as many awards as it did. I am also very happy for Tabia on her win for Best New Artiste. We did this single two years ago and its good to see that it continues to be well received and loved by the public.”
The video for Boom Boom Boom was filmed on location in Saint Lucia by French production house Paris Pixels. It featured scenes that are quintessentially Saint Lucian along with a number of hotels including Windjammer Landing and Coco Palm – both properties generously allowing the crew to work and stay at their properties at no cost.
The collaboration was made possible through Louis who continues to work with the French label that sponsored the production costs of the video and remix version of the song that features French hip-hop superstar Nathy Boss. The duet dominated the Bermuda charts for weeks at number one and secured Tabia appearances all across the region including at Martinique Carnival.
Founded by J Rock Communications and established in October 2004, Tha Underground first started as a general website designed for local artists in Bermuda to submit and promote their musical works and talents. As it grew Tha underground.net was opened to unsigned artistes world wide. Along with the Web site Tha underground produces a weekly radio show on one of Bermuda's local radio stations, Power 95 that airs every Sunday at 5 PM.

Louis is no stranger to awards having won three Copyright of Trinidad and Tobago (COTT) awards for his work on the Machel Montano hit Jumbie. He remains the only Saint Lucian who has won the prestigious and highly sought after awards. He was also recognized as the Producer of the Year when Saint Lucia held it’s only Music Awards a few years ago.
On adding these three to his growing collection of accolades he says, “every award is different. With the three awards in Trinidad - they were my first so that feeling of accomplishment can never be duplicated. And Jumbie was such a huge song that gave me numerous opportunities as well. Winning Producer of the Year in Saint Lucia meant so much to me because it was a home award given by my people and peers. [But] these awards from Bermuda are a testament to the quality of my work and I am grateful for that nod of approval.” Louis is currently in Grenada where three of his songs are at the top of the Grenada Billboard Charts as that country heads to the grand finale of Spice Mas 2010.
He has produced the soca monarch competition song for defending Grenada Soca Monarch Mr Killa who last month - along with Superman HD came in third at the Caribbean Soca Monarch with De Fence. The song was one of the biggest for Saint Lucia Carnival dominating events like the launch of NG as well as Outrageous Sexy in Black where both men performed it before literally mashing up Mindoo Phillip Park in their appearance at the Caribbean Soca Monarch. It was also played numerous times during the Parade of the Bands where on Day Two Killa hopped trucks to stir up revelers encouraging them to mash up and tear down fences.
De Fence was written by Killa, Louis and Superman HD – it was produced by Killa and Louis. The multi-talented Louis has also written and produced the track Gyal You Bad featuring Mr Killa and Jamaican icon Sizzla as well as Jammin on de Road a duet featuring newcomer Jay and Mr Killa.
Jammin is currently the biggest and most played song on Grenada radio – hugely expected to win the 2010 Road March title. The song has also secured its female Soca newbie, Jay a spot in the finals of the Grenada Soca Monarch.
