New
ISCCF St. Lucia National Staff Worker
Ms.
Yana Zabie Terris has been appointed as the
new Staffworker for the Inter School and College
Christian Fellowship (ISCCF). Yana was raised
in a Christian home and has developed a deep
passion for ministering to young people. Presently,
she serves as a youth leader in her local
church and is involve in the worship and dance
ministries.
Yana has been a part of ISCCF from the Leon
Hess Comprehensive Secondary School. However,
she recalls that it was at the Sir Arthur
Lewis Community College, that she really understood
the personal value and importance of the student
ministry. ‘ISCCF’s Friday sessions
were like a church altar when Sunday service
seemed far, a time of refreshment after a
tireless week of lectures and assignments’,
she recalls. Yana served on the Student Executive
as the Vice President and was a member of
the delegation to the Regional Tertiary Students'
Conference held in Barbados in 2006.
Since then, she has served ISCCF through camps,
student rallies, special projects and other
functions. Yana believes that this ministry
is strategically positioned to impact the
life of every student in St. Lucia. “Our
commission is not only to teach that Christ
died on the cross, but that in dying there
is hope for a better life, even while here
on earth and that to me is the full gospel”,
she declares.
Yana serves as the founder/ coordinator for
the Women of Substance Ministries. She credits
ISCCF for giving her the skills and courage
to take on the task of leading women through
that ministry, to live a life of purity and
devotion to God. As for being Staffworker
Yana says “I believe that I have been
called to serve God by leading the youth,
and it is not one that I am about the take
lightly. The standard and banner of God has
to be raised in my country, the Caribbean
and the world at large and it starts with
me”.
Yana’s life passion is to know and encourage
others to follow after God and serving as
the Staff Worker for St. Lucia is the prime
opportunity to do so. She lives in the community
of Derniere Riviere, situated in Dennery and
is a recent graduate of Monroe College.
The Inter School and College Christian Fellowship
(ISCCF) is a Christian Student Movement in
the Secondary Schools and Tertiary institutions.
It is part of a worldwide organization, the
International Fellowship of Evangelical Students
(IFES), with headquarters in London, UK, serving
students in over 165 countries. The organization
is currently active in eighteen secondary
schools in St. Lucia and the Sir Arthur Lewis
Community College.

ISCCF
supports the fundamental truth of the Christian
faith, the central one being salvation through
the repentance of sin, personal belief in
and confession of the saving work of the Lord
Jesus Christ by His death and resurrection.
The organisation works with individuals and
groups and shares the essential faith as outlined
in our Doctrinal Statement. Believing that
students don't know enough until they know
the Lord Jesus Christ, and recognizing that
the students of today will be the architects
of our nation’s future, ISCCF tries
to make the learning process complete by enabling
students to learn more about Jesus Christ.
Attempts to establish a student ministry in
St. Lucia began in the early 1970’s
by a Trinidadian Staffworker known as D. Corbin.
During the 1980’s, Frank Goveia made
several visits to the island and contacted
leaders and teachers in the Evangelical Community
to share the vision of student ministry.
In September 1988, efforts were intensified
when a combined group of university students
from Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago
and Guyana visited churches and schools on
the island. This resulted in the formation
of several ISCCF groups at secondary schools
and Sir Arthur Lewis Community College. The
appointment of the first Staffworker Josephine
Romain from Grenada took place in 1989. Subsequently,
Bing Roncesvalles from the Philippines, Kevin
John from St. Lucia and Kerwin Stuart from
Guyana have served as staff workers. We now
have a new staff worker Yana Terris who is
the organisation’s second national Staffworker.
