NAUGHTY OR NICE?

Gregg Jean is the man behind Snapper International. Gregg is a local entrepreneur who has developed his business acumen into one of the leading barber shops on the island as well as a major promotions company. The young St. Lucian jumped into the whole business of barbering operating from home, but never expected to do it full time. He went on with another establishment, but within a year they encountered difficulties so he was forced to go on his own. The name Snapper he says comes from a joke his friends put on him about a fish meal he once purchased with the cooked fish (a snapper) still showing shiny scales. And so when it came time to select a name for his new business the name Snapper was encouraged by his friends and stuck.

Today Snapper International, located on St. Louis Street is one of the leading barber shops on the island. However, always one to engage in various activities, Gregg also got involved in promotions through “Pro Sounds” another promotion entity, many years ago. This gave him the zeal to once again try things out on his own and in 2000; Snapper had his first event which was an auto sound clash.

Since then, Snapper International has been renowned for quality events with a difference. The biggest success story of which has to be the Ultra Glow series. The Ultra Glow Fete is an all white annual Christmas Eve Party. The name came from the requirement that patrons dress in all or almost all white. The all white theme was chosen because it is believed that white stood for purity and elegance and made everyone look beautiful.

In 2002 Snapper International held the first all white fete-Ultra Glow which saw more than 800 patrons partying to the music of a number of local Dj’s. Now an annual event, Glow has seen DJ’s such as Malcolm X from Barbados, Papa Keith from Miami, Black Chiney also from Miami, DVD J, Unique from Las Vegas specializing in video mixing as well as a number of St. Lucia’s top DJ’s. In 2010, there was also a special appearance from our talented Ricky T and Bad Gyal Cecile of Jamaica which was yet again a success. For many patrons it is the highlight of the holiday season and the anticipation as well as the expenses on clothes and jewelry creates an excitement that builds up to the event itself.

This year however, we will be doing it bigger and better and more flavour will be added to the mix. SNAPPER INT’L is hosting its 10th annual GLOW FETE EDITION, called NAUGHTY or NICE. This year’s event will feature BET’s 106 and PARK host, Terrance J. “Naughty or Nice” basically gives this event a twist, where patrons get to dress black if they’re naughty or white if they’re nice, having the best of both worlds.

On Saturday December 24th, 2011, at the Gaiety Night Club, “NAUGHTY or NICE” Glow Fete Edition is the swanking place to be and an event not to be missed. It’s not just another party, it’s an experience that gives fun, frolic, glow tangibles, guaranteed enjoyment and a bang for your buck.
