CHRYCEE’S “BABY”

Christine “Chrycee” Charlemagne releases her new single “Baby” .
This wonderful songstress who has four previous releases, of various genres within the last three years, has made great strides in improvement of her vocal skills. Chrycee who started singing at the age of fourteen at church, and continued at St. Joseph’s Convent where she also acted in school productions, has not stopped at her goal to achieving a professional career in the performing arts.
Her new song “Baby” was written by her and produced by Rawle “Rossi” Alcide of Déjà vu Studios. In this new track is a beautiful blend of soothing musical accompaniment and a soulful voice that reveals the voice range of this artiste. Chrycee who balances her life between her job, studies and her music says that “Music is ingrained in me, my passion, the deepest expression of my soul and I can no longer restrain it!” as she goes out on a limb to pursue her dream.
Chrycee also expresses the fact that while she favours the soothing sound of R&B, jazz and soul music, she refuses to limit herself to one genre of music. “I am up for the challenge and looking forward to experimenting with different genres of music” she says. Christine Charlemagne better known in the entertainment circles as Chrycee is one of St. Lucia’s up and coming sensational vocalist.
Singing solo from the age of fourteen in the church laid the foundation for her singing career. Chrycee attended the St. Joseph’s Convent where she partook in singing and acting as part of her curriculum.
Her first job was as a journalist at the Star Newspaper where she developed her writing skills. She has been employed at the Royal Bank of Canada for the past 5 years and is pursuing her studies to earn a degree in Banking and Finance with the University of the West Indies. Chrycee has released five singles to date. In July 2008 she took the first step towards fulfilling her dream, with her debut track “Alone” written and produced by Peter Mathius Simeon Jr. of Rhythm House studio.

In 2009 Chrycee went on to prove that her talents extend beyond her melodious voice. Her second Release “Handle It”, a witty song in which the artist challenges the male bravado, proved to be a 2K9 favourite for St. Lucia Carnival. “Handle It” was written by Chrycee and produced by Francis “Leebo” DeLima of Heights Music. She performed this song at a number of venues that year which showcased her wonderful stage presence and afforded her encores from the audience.
In August 2009, the release of R&B flavoured “That Melody”, a track by Leebo featuring Chrycee and Cylva J, attested to the artist’s versatility. “That Melody” was written by Francis De Lima, Chrycee and Cylva J; and produced by Francis De Lima. In 2010 Chrycee again showcased her RnB skills with the release of “Addict,” written by Chrycee and produced by Francis De Lima.
Her latest release for 2011, “Baby” further showcases her versatility. This talented young woman loves reading, writing and spoken word and balances her time in the studio with her job and studies.
