CLAUDIA
HITS BROADWAY

After
just recently holding a charity concert for
the Edward 4 Education Charity Foundation,
Claudia continues to work towards her upcoming
musical break through.
The artist is getting set to stage up her
game for her lead role in the “Human
Affect” musical on Broadway. When asked
how she landed this role, Claudia admits that
it was the prompting of her fiancé
upon receiving a general email from a friend.
After three auditions and amazing support
from her family, Claudia caught the attention
of the producers and landed a lead role for
the musical.
Within
the "Human Affect" Artistic Initiative
that Promotes Human Rights Learning Through
Art, Athletics and Science with its fully
inclusive Policy, a special AD HOC UNIT was
established to assist the United Nations in
promoting, utilizing and implementing the
precepts of the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights Articles as a conduit to activate responsible
solutions to make aware and protect Human
Rights. The entire cast had to go through
a training to educate and familiarize them
with the policies of United Nations and their
ultimate goal; which is to affect as many
Humans as possible into doing all they can
within their means to relieve the Earths People
from suffering the consequences of practices
which breakdown the core areas of economic,
social and ecological sustainable development.
“The
two day training taught me so much and opened
my eyes to the reality of the oppression and
poverty that so many people are faced with”
says the artist. “I feel that this play
is exactly what I need to complete me and
create that balance that I have unconsciously
been in desperate need of. I am very excited
to begin the tedious rehearsal process and
to start working”.

The
non-equity production is due to premier in
May 2011 and will continue with a tour of
the Americas, Canada and European Main stages.
Claudia says that as excited as she is, her
departure in a few weeks will be filled with
mixed emotions, as she will be leaving her
family and her entire life to move in with
an unfamiliar cast. Claudia, who has played
major roles in plays like The Odyssey of Sir
Derrick Walcott and recently played Lady in
Red in “For Colored Girls” directed
by Alvin Hippolyte, says: “This is going
to add to my many experiences and I plan to
make St. Lucia proud while I continue moving
forward”.
Human
Rights are rights inherent to all human beings,
whatever one’s nationality, place of
residence, sex, national or ethnic origin,
color, religion, language, or any other status.
We are all equally entitled to our human rights
without discrimination. These civil, political,
economic, social and cultural rights are all
interrelated, interdependent and indivisible.
Claudia Edward will be one of the many talented
individuals to bring that message across to
various audiences, and she is extremely excited
and dedicated to the prospects.
