The
CCSS Ball Committee also known as CBC Promotions
staged the first ever deejay competition for
teens on Saturday July 9th, at the CCSS auditorium.
The event created an avenue for eight young
deejays to express their talents during a
ten minute set piece, where they were judged
from a criteria which included, genres of
music, mixing, use of microphone, creativity,
crowd response etc.
With over one thousand persons on the CCSS
grounds and a packed auditorium, the competition
commenced with DJ Scape T (Corinth Secondary),
after being thoroughly entertained by Selector
J and DJ Rock from Trans World Entertainment
as well as Selector Twis (Sound City) and
Scady Dot P (Yo Magazine & Blazin Fm).
DJ Scape T was followed by DJ Mad X (CCSS),
DJ Stryppz (Morne Du Don) and DJ Rampage (CCSS).
With the first half of the competition completed,
additional entertainment was provided by D12
and New Marvel. The second half of the completion
continued with DJ Teavo (Babonneau), DJ Ippa
(Babonneau Secondary), DJ Movay (Gros Islet)
and MC Bubblicious from S.M.C.
Closing off the entertainment package was
Star Chickz and the ever popular Crocadile
with his monster hit for this year, “Ready
Mixx already Fixx”.
The results for the competition are as follows,
DJ Ippa (8th place), MC Bubblicious (7th place),
DJ Teavo (6th place), DJ Scape T (5th place),
DJ Rampage (4th place), DJ Stryppz (3rd place),
DJ Movay (2nd place) and the champion DJ Mad
X. DJ Mad X was crowned champion of the first
ever Bizz Up CCSS Teen Splash 2k11 with his
neat mixing and effective blend of music from
the 80’s to the present. DJ Movay was
the most popular deejay on the evening, with
hundreds of patrons responding to his entire
10 minute piece.
