Paul Auguste
who resides in the community of Anse La Vedure
which is located between Anse La Raye and
Canaries is only 25 years old and already
has a business mindset. From a tender age,
he noticed that his passion was baking and
that he loved the experience and just the
feeling it gave him when he did it. He decided
to pursue bigger ventures so that he could
take what he does seriously; he started a
small business where he makes mini pizzas.
Like anyone who is set out on the path for
becoming successful, the 25 year old took
a great risk when he decided to open a small
business without knowing whether it would
be successful or unsuccessful, he decided
that if he was going to pursue his love, he
had to start off somewhere. He named his business:
“Couper’s Pizzas”.
Although he
did not attend Secondary school because of
various circumstances, the aspiring business
man proved to be determined not to remain
stagnant, so he decided to do a course in
the Culinary Skills Training Programme in
Canaries, where he graduated with a certificate.
Before investing in his own business, he started
out making Dahls and bakes to sell, so that
he could save up to pursue what he loved doing.
He also worked at the ideal bakery at one
pointing time, where he gained quite a bit
of experience.
His business
has been in progress for an estimated three
years and apart from making pizzas, he makes
hot dogs and bakes to sell along with Cocoa
tea on Sundays. He says the idea of the business
is for visitors and locals to stop and enjoy
delicious pizzas and other side attractions
when they are traveling, especially when they
are taking a tour of the Island down/ safaris
down the coast.

He
says that his father, who is now deceased,
was a baker in his years, so apparently the
talent was passed on to him. He is also the
first out of both of his parents’ children.
(Mother: Jo Anna Augustine. Father: Peter
Williams). He is not alone in his business,
as he has an oven man who assists him in making
his work load easier.
Paul
Auguste has just begun living his dream of
having his own business and he does not intend
to stop there. He says that he would like
to see his business expand in upcoming years
and he would also like to encourage the teens
out there especially and say to them, that
if they have a dream they should “go
for it!” He says the sky is the limit
and nothing is impossible and that hard work
and determination goes a long way and definitely
pays off!
He
would also like to express his thanks to the
people of Anse La Vedure, Anse La Raye, Canaries
and his customers who have also been supporting
him. He would like to encourage Saint Lucians
to support him so that he can be successful
and they in return, have a taste of what he
does. The baker can be contacted at: 488-7638.
