“It’s
great that Panorama is returning after a 2-year
absence. We are proud to be teaming up with
the St Lucia Steelbands Association once again,
to support our community steelbands and help
further the development of carnival and St
Lucia’s great pan tradition,’
was the direct quote from Chris Williams,
LIME VP of Country Operations for St. Lucia.
Yes we had it back and yes, it was backed
by the biggest telecommunications provider
on the land LIME. and organized by the Steelbands
Association and the Carnival Stakeholders
Committee of the CDF, with support from Pan
Trinbago.
History was created on the night of Friday
July 15th as for the first time in Saint Lucia
two Pan Champions were crowned. How fitting
is that, huh? Pan gone for two years and comes
back to crown two champions!
This years “Return of Pan” featured
a total of Five large and three small bands.
The latter group consisted of St Lucy’s
Orchestra from Micoud, Harmonites Steel Orchestra
and Super J Pan Exodus. The former category
consisted of Assumption Knights Youth in Action,
Pantime Steel Orchestra, Busta Emerald Steel,
Courts Babonneau and LIME Diamond Steel.

At
the end of the night it would be the community
of Babonneau which claimed both trophies,
as the bands from that community won both
small and large band categories.
Best Small Band title was awarded to Harmonites
Steel Orchestra for their performance of Maléway.
In second place was Super J Pan Exodus, and
first-timers St. Lucy’s Steelpan Orchestra
of Micoud placed third.
That evening at the B.C.G, Courts Babonneau
Steel Orchestra would not be denied. They
finally won the large band category with a
crowd-pleasing rendition of Invader’s
Walk & Wine. Second place was awarded
to PanTime Steel Orchestra and former champions
LIME Diamond Steel Orchestra came in third.
They were followed by BUSTA Emerald Steel
and Assumption Knights Youth in Action.
