Know
His Name -- WILBURNE
WILBURNE
is the new kid on the block! This new solo
artiste made his debut solo performance at
the NCF 2011 Telethon on Sunday May 29, at
the Gaiety on Rodney Bay.
Twenty-two
year old WILBURNE, son of Martina Mathurin,
born and raised in Sunbilt, Castries, has
a passion for singing and has been like this
from the age of seven.
Whilst
attending the St. Aloysius R.C. Boys’
Infant School, he was always being encouraged
by his principal and teachers, as they sometimes
permitted him to sing through the intercom
as part of the Morning Prayer sessions. With
a lot of support from his family as well,
he continued singing and was recognized for
his extra-ordinary voice and ear for music.
As
a teenager he became a member of the Cathedral
Junior Choir, the Babonneau Secondary School
Choir, and the National Youth Choir respectively.
The time spent in the choirs contributed tremendously
to his growth as an artiste.

WILBURNE,
being such a talented youngster, started composing
his own songs as a teenager and although writing
songs in various genres, he decided to use
his talent solely for the Lord. He is very
proud of his two original single track recordings
‘Wannah Know’ in the Gospel Dance
Hall genre produced and arranged by Hugh ‘Ziggy’
James of GSH Studio and the more recent being
‘I’ve Been Through’ a Gospel
R&B track produced by Werner “Semi”
Francis of 4YA Studios and arranged by Danyl
Daniel of Daniel’s Den Studios all of
St. Lucia.
In
these two tracks one can see the versatility
of his writing and also the ranges he displays
in his vocals. He is often likened to Boyz
II Men, the famous R&B group from the
United States.
WILBURNEis
a very determined singer and assures his fans
that they will be hearing a lot more from
him and that some day he will live his dream
of being a full time Gospel Artiste. With
his determination and perseverance, and the
help of Almighty God, there is no doubt that
he will achieve his goal.
