KES
SEXY BLACK

Very
soon they will be here! The Wave’s Outrageous:
Sexy In Black has always had a knack for bringing
in fresh, never before seen acts in St. Lucia
to compliment our carnival season performances.
This year is no different as for the first
time, Outrageous: Sexy In Black will feature
the sounds of International Groovy Monarch
Kes.
The
man who made okay to feel “Wotless”
will bring that feeling of two million dollars
on the island as he performs hits such as
“Wotless”, “Weekend Love”,
“Stay with me”, “Come Gyal”,
and “Right Dey” among others.
This
weekend in our main feature we will bring
a little more insight on the band that is
about to give St. Lucia a performance they
won’t soon forget on Carnival Friday.
Kes
the band’s unique blend of soulful vocals
and calypso-inspired melodies, over a fusion
of rock riffs and island beats, hints of Soca
and reggae, but can best be described as Caribbean
Pop. This style has elevated Kes to stardom,
allowing the band to become a household name
in Trinidad & Tobago and throughout the
Caribbean circuit, as well as in niche markets
in the United States, Canada and Europe, where
they consistently win over audiences with
their electric and high-energy performances!
Since
their inception in 2005, Kes (the band) comprising
brothers Kees (lead singer), Hans (drums),
Jon (lead guitar), and best friend Riad Boochoon
(bass), along with the support from versatile
keyboardists (Keithson Cruickshank and Mario
Callendar), and DJ Robert “Robbie Styles”
Persaud, KES has managed to achieve significant
success on a worldwide scale in a relatively
short period of time.
The
band has released four albums to date, (Three
Baldheads & a Dread, Lion and On in Five
and WOTLESS), with more than a dozen tracks
making it into the top 10 of major Caribbean
charts. They will also be releasing their
fifth album STEREOTYPE in May. It would be
the second album from Kes for 2011.
Additionally,
the band has won numerous awards for song
writing; toured globally, performed at major
festivals and events in the United States
and Germany; opened for acts such as Maroon
5, Sean Paul, Musiq Soul Child, Usher, John
Legend, and Rihanna; and had their music featured
on television shows broadcast on MTV and BET,
as well as licensed tracks to popular games
on major video game platforms.

In
the summer of 2009 the band released the single,
“Stalker”; since its release,
this track has garnered international attention
and allowed Kes the Band to win several awards,
including the USA 4 Real “Most Promising
Artist”.
In
2010 Kes collaborated with Jamaican reggae
superstar, Tessanne Chin on a song titled,
“Loving You”. The video was directed
by music video Director, Life Garland whose
music videos have helped launch the careers
of several artists including Lil’ Jon.
The
most recent achievements of the band include
winning one of the biggest competitions in
the Caribbean for the song WOTLESS. KES is
now the Groovy Monarch holder for 2011.
Last
year Kes’ pop/dance crossover song LE
T ME KNOW was picked up by Six Flags to be
played throughout all their Amusement Parks
in a New Music segment and also by American
Airlines to play on their in-flight programs.
On a recent trip to London KES was invited
to perform three songs for a live segment
on the BBC World channel.
