INTRA-HOUSE TRACK & FIELD FOR 2011
By
Michael Peterkin
The
CCSS Sports Program the organizing body responsible
for Physical Education and Sport hosted the
annual Intra House Track and Field Championships
at the CCSS grounds. The two day event March
1 and 3, was keenly contested by the four
Houses, Heron, Amazona, Finch and Oriole.
A
new champion was crowned after the two day
event. Heron House totaled 655 points to capture
first place and the trophy, followed by Amazona
with 643 points, Finch in third place with
572 points and defending champions Oriole
in last place with 501 points. It must be
noted that after a courageous and inspiring
speech from Roland Branch, former Sports master
and House master of Oriole House for thirty
five years that Oriole was still not able
to rise to the occasion and allow him to retire
from CCSS on a winning note.

Outstanding
performances were executed by Allana Paul
(Finch), Delanah Allembert (Oriole), Sinead
St. Louis (Amazona), Bradley Cyril (Heron),
Dexter Solomon (Amazona) and Emmery Edward
(Finch). These athletes all won ludorum titles
in their respective divisions. The most outstanding
performer was Delanah Allembert of Oriole
House with four gold medals in discus, shot
putt, long jump and javelin.
Other
notable performers were Rahim James (Heron),
Leontius Joseph (Oriole), Shantal Williams
(Heron) and Marcus Edward (Oriole).
With
three weeks before the annual Inter Schools’
Track & Field Championships the above
listed athletes together with their teammates
will be expected to continue their intense
training to display creditable performances.
