St Lucian Artiste Gives Back

St Lucian singer/ songwriter Shayne Ross offers up a free download of his latest single “Tell Me Why”

Shayne Ross has offered his latest song “Tell me why” for free download. The song was written by Ross over 2 years ago and was only released a little over 3 weeks ago via social networking platforms and email blasts. The song is a bit of a deviation from the norm in terms of the music that you might be used to hearing from Shayne as it is delivered over an authentic and original reggae instrumental complete with all the trimmings of a vintage reggae classic.

“I felt that the message of this song would be best suited for this genre of music, R&B would not do this song justice, so I think choosing to go the way of classic reggae was a good move and it shows some level of versatility too.” And a very powerful message indeed as the song deals with the scourge of violence and anti social behaviour that plagues ours and all societies and asks the question “Tell me why” in a way which is both powerful and poignant.

Ross says his reason for having the song for free download is because “the message has to spread.” Ross had a similar promotion tied to Valentines Day 2 years ago with his hugely popular ballad “In Love with You” which he says is being downloaded to this day. Apart from the new single, Shayne says he is currently working on a number of projects which he expects to be out within the next few weeks.

In 2006, the singer showed that he had full command of rhythm & blues when he released the sexy single 'Naked' that had female fans screaming and begging for more. With 'Take You Home', Shayne cemented the fact that he was hot property and could sing or rap like the best of them. Many music enthusiasts have already given him the moniker, “St Lucia's John Legend.”

In addition to singing and writing his own music, Shayne produces many hot tracks including 'Breed' for St Lucian performer Cherry L. He has collaborated with the best local producers including Sherwin 'Dupes' Brice and Francis 'Leebo' Delima on his music. In the July/August issue of SHE Caribbean Magazine, Shayne was named as the 'One to Watch' in the Caribbean's music industry.

Shayne has opened up for acts such as Jamaican superstars Voicemail, and has performed at the St. Lucia Jazz Festival 'Jazz on The Square'. It is only a matter of time for this sexy singer to become the main act. With his music, Shayne wants 'to keep on expressing himself and give people something that they can relate to, that they can groove to and to create music that lasts forever'.
