Dear Helpline,

I am 17 years old and I have been a relationship with my 25 year old boyfriend for 16 months. We lived in the same area. We have been going well until just recently my mother moved to Vieux Fort. We remained lovers except, I recently came back to Castries two days ago to get my life back on track and to be with him and our relationship feels like it's ending slowly. He told me that he didn't want to break up but I think he does. I really love him but I don't know what to do or say to keep our relationship going. Please help me.

Dear R.L

If the feeling isn’t mutual, then it’s no use staying in the relationship. Yes, he says he doesn’t want to break up, but do his actions suggest that? Possibility exists that he met someone else, when you re-located. Are you working? Sometimes guys tend to drift away when a girl/woman is unemployed, women react the same way. Maybe something’s bothering him, that’s why he seems so distant right now. Try to sit down and talk it out with him. Don’t apply pressure; simply ask him what’s going on. Don’t go to him when it’s obvious that he’s stressed/frustrated about something. If you get the feeling that he’s not interested anymore, then maybe you should move on. However it could just be something bugging him. Try to talk it out to see what happens. Good luck!
