Dear Helpline

I broke up with my girlfriend because I found out she was flirting with another guy. I still like her a lot. She told me that she likes me too. I don't know what I should do. I'm afraid it may happen again. What should I do? Should I just move on?

Confused Much

Dear Confused Much,

If you're both missing each other, then talk to her about it. It's not that big of a deal to swallow your pride and take her back. But be sure to have an open, honest conversation about what kind of behavior you're OK with and what kind of behavior is a deal breaker.

Some people may or may not consider flirting cheating. If you are one of those who won’t stand for it tell her and make sure you are all in agreement with the decisions made. Don’t leave anything for later. Lay out all the cards on the table.

If you want to make flirting a “break-uppable” offense in your 2nd round of dating, you'll have to let her know up front. That way, she can decide whether or not it's worth the cost of dating you.

It will be better once both of you understand what each other wants rather than you two play that guessing game. It will also ease the stress you will go through thinking if she is cheating on you or not.
