Adios
A Poem For The Friends Of Alisha
Hunte & Roland Regis by Shardy Kezia Sobers-Carter
How do you console
an aching heart?
How do you replace a friend?
How do you substitute memories, with the realization
that this is the end?
In an otherwise
obscure stretch of night
Friends are stars, who guide the way,
‘Sorry, accept my condolences,’
seem like inconsiderate words to say
The sun loses
its radiance
As pain cuts through the soul,
Of a mind tortured with regrets, unfulfilled
dreams and I love you’d left untold
The loss still
surreal, but tears flood your eyes
Like riverbanks during torrential rain.
A plastered smile,
And the loitering doubt that joy will ever
be sincere again
For
those who grieve remember
That their spirits linger near,
Let the lesson from their departure be: To
cherish every moment you are here.
