It’s raining, the sounds on the roof drowns out my silent cries
Tick tock, each minute seems like an eternity
The precarious feeling of not knowing what to do dawns heavily on my mind
I take a deep breath, trying to look beyond what could not be seen
The suffocating feeling of this void, blatant to my wellbeing.

Your indelible smile, your inexplicable life-force….so bright
Illuminating through my darkness and feeling me with hope
What seemed to be a never-ending path of nothingness
Had now been replaced with your potent enrapture
I closed my eyes and once more, I searched for an answer I could not grasp
When did it happen, why didn’t I see
Was it lack of experience? No...That’s not it
Careful planning and execution made even the best seem like fools.

You acted the part so smoothly
Never once succumbing to any emotional desires
As much as you gave, you stole
You manoeuvred your way into my heart
Enthralled me with your luscious kisses
Ensuing my heart to yours forever.

What purpose did all this bring to you?
What meaning did it serve?
The burden of taking one’s light
It’s not something one should incur
On that fateful day when our entwined paths dispersed
Without any signs or speech
My burning light went cold
