We
Rise
From dawn till
dusk we toiled non-stop;
Bleeding from the scorching sun,
Signing our hopes of redemption.
Wounded from insults and whips of our masters.
Black and powerless is what we were.
Fleecy Black Locks and Dark Complexion had
stolen our Birth Right;
But coming out from a pass rooted and grounded
in pain and distress We Rise.
Leaving behind years of anguish and intimidation,
We Rise,
Into a life that's wondrously free and clear,
we rise.
Living peacefully with all of mankind, we
rise.
