Have you ever heard
the phrase patience is a virtue? Have you
ever wondered why? The phrase "patience
is a virtue" is just a way of expressing
the importance of being patient. A virtue
is a trait or quality deemed to be morally
excellent and thus is valued as a foundation
of principle and good moral being. Patience
can make us better people. The definition
of the word is to tolerate delay implying
self control and forbearance.
A lot of us
have been job hunting lately and this patience
is wearing thin. Many of us will be job hunting
soon and the frustration will hit.
The actual
job hunting is the primary source of aggravation
on an ongoing basis. To achieve a good level
of patience, you need to develop a view of
what's really practical. You can only do what
you can with what you have. What's available
defines what you can achieve. You don't expect
to win the lottery every day, so don't expect
every day on the job hunt to be a big win.
The internal stresses are based on expectations,
not reality. The solution is patience, and
lots of it.
Many job seekers
feel that they're being poked with a stick
on a regular basis by outside sources, even
those trying to help. Job hunting is a very
personal experience, and this can be interpreted
as deep, intolerable intrusion.
The problem
is that most of the time this view of outside
sources is actually wrong. Other people can't
easily penetrate the stress levels, particularly
when they're not allowed in. They're usually
doing what they think is right, not trying
to annoy you. Patience can correct a lot of
misconceptions, and reduce stress, when you
engage with instead of rejecting these sources.
Crises sometimes
happen, and naturally, they create stress.
The last thing any unemployed person needs
is to have to worry about things like their
unemployment insurance or other important
issues like that.
Patience is
essential to deal with these crises. You need
to be able to think straight, and disappearing
into a burst of frustration isn't going to
do that. The need is to work with people to
solve the problem. Only patience can do that.
It's tough, yes, but it's also essential.
Patience isn't
just a buzzword. It's a survival strategy,
and a way of taking time to deal with problems
and keep things in perspective. If you can
learn to conquer it, you are well on your
way to facing society head on.
Just this
week my patience was tested when I was facing
three deadlines and the internet went down.
Imagine my frustration. I didn’t allow
that to get the better of me though, I just
found another alternative to get my tasks
completed.
Practice patience
today ya’ll it will benefit you later
on life. Have a great day and God bless!
