Richard
Allen Jefferson (born June 21, 1980 in Los
Angeles), is a 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m) American
professional basketball player and a member
of the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA. Jefferson
was born in Los Angeles and was raised in
Phoenix, Arizona.
Jefferson attended Moon Valley High School
in west Phoenix, Arizona, where he was an
integral part of the varsity basketball team
that won the 4A State Championship in 1998.
He played college basketball at the University
of Arizona. Jefferson played seven seasons
with the Nets and was a key element of their
back-to-back Eastern Conference Championship
teams of 2002 and 2003. In addition, Jefferson
was a member of the USA Olympic basketball
team in during the 2004 Summer Olympics. Jefferson
also competed in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest
in 2003. On June 26, 2008 it was announced
that Jefferson was traded to the Milwaukee
Bucks for Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons. He
was not happy with the trade at first because
he planned on being a Net until retirement.
However he expressed enthusiasm about playing
alongside Michael Redd. On June 23, 2009,
Richard Jefferson was traded to the San Antonio
Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas, and Fabricio
Oberto.

Spurs acquired scoring swingman Richard Jefferson
from Milwaukee in a four-player deal on Tuesday,
giving San Antonio the extra offensive punch
the aging former champions sorely needed.
The Spurs sent veterans Bruce Bowen, Kurt
Thomas and Fabricio Oberto to the Bucks in
exchange for the 29-year-old Jefferson, who
averaged 19.6 points in his one season with

trade that brings the Minnesota Timberwolves
the No. 5 overall pick in Thursday's draft
has been completed. The Timberwolves and Washington
on Wednesday struck a deal that gives Minnesota
its fourth first-round draft choice, along
with Wizards forwards Etan Thomas, Darius
Songaila and Oleksiy Pecherov. The Wizards
receive guards Randy Foye and Mike Miller.
The teams first agreed to the deal on Tuesday
night. Minnesota now has the fifth, sixth,
18th and 28th selections in the draft.
SportsFuzion Inc. claims plans by Nike and
the Hall of Fame for a line of Jordan sportswear
violate a contract SportsFuzion says gave
it exclusive licensing rights to the Hall
of Fame's logos, trademarks, designs and photos
for use in sportswear. Nike is expected to
release its Air Jordan Hall of Fame collection
this summer, ahead of Jordan's induction into
the Hall of Fame in September.
Sharapova won seven consecutive games during
one stretch but let a late lead slip away
Wednesday and was beaten by Gisela Dulko,
6-2, 3-6, 6-4 in the second round at Wimbledon.
In a wild, 14-point final game, Sharapova
saved four match points. But on the fifth
she pushed an easy forehand long, and she
was out of the tournament after two rounds
for the second year in a row. The 2004 champion
was playing in her fourth event since rejoining
the tour last month following shoulder surgery
in October. She's ranked 60th but was seeded
24th because of past success at the All England
Club.
