Maicon's agent
believes Manchester United have upped their
interest in the Inter Milan defender but insists
there are no offers on the table. The Brazil
international joined Inter from Monaco in
2006 and has developed into a key player in
the Nerazzurri team since Jose Mourinho took
over two years ago. Maicon's impressive performances
have caught the eye around Europe but Antonio
Caliendo insists the 28-year-old is remaining
at the San Siro for the time being. "United's
interest in my client is not something new,"
he told Tuttopremier.it. "They have been
following him for a while. "Now it seems
to me that they are pressing for him but I
don't think there has been any concrete offer
yet."
The
Jamaica Cricket Association yesterday confirmed
that big-hitting opener, Christopher Gayle,
will captain the national team in the West
Indies Cricket Board one-day tournament. The
announcement was made through a press release,
which also confirmed former youth player,
Zeniffe Fowler, as the only newcomer in an
18-man squad, which will be further reduced
to 14 for the tournament that will start later
this month in Guyana.
So much for
getting to know each other; the LeBron and
Shaq Show is off and running. NBA icons, All-Stars
and A-plus-list celebrities LeBron James and
Shaquille O'Neal made their debut as Cleveland
teammates on Tuesday night and had immediate
chemistry in the Cavaliers' 92-87 preseason-opening
victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. James
and O'Neal worked several pick-and-rolls,
showing off a two-man game that with a little
polish could be unstoppable. "Me and
Shaq played pretty well together," James
said. "It shouldn't be hard for either
one of us. We know how to play basketball
and we want to win."
Wayne
Rooney wants to win as many trophies as he
can with Manchester United and England and
then become the national side's record goal
scorer. The 23-year-old already has 25 goals
to his name from 55 England appearances. The
current record stands at 49 and belongs to
Sir Bobby Charlton and Rooney admits the mark
is already in his sights. "I spoke to
Sir Bobby last week about it and we discussed
playing and scoring for England," he
told the Daily Star. "It would be a dream
come true to do it and mean so much to me.”It
would also be fantastic if two Manchester
United players were to be one and two in the
list. "But don't rule out Michael (Owen)
and he still has a chance of the record."
