Saurabh Tiwary
hit an enterprising half-century and Kieron
Pollard played a delightful cameo to charge
Mumbai to 184 for 5 at the DY Patil Stadium.
It was a bridge too far even for the batting-heavy
Bangalore and they never really threatened
to get anywhere close to the target. The 35-run
win took Mumbai to the final, and sealed their
qualification for the Champions League Twenty20
to be held in September.
Arsenal
ace Andrey Arshavin is hoping to return to
action against Manchester City this weekend.
Arshavin has been out of action since picking
up a calf problem during the first leg of
the Champions League quarter-final against
Barcelona and has missed the last four games.
The Russian is making good progress with his
fitness and he hopes to be available for the
visit of Champions League chasing Manchester
City on Saturday.
Portsmouth's
administrators have revealed the extraordinary
level of the club's debts - with £1million
owed to Tottenham for Asmir Begovic. Portsmouth
have released their debt report to creditors,
spelling out the entirety of the club's debts
to be £119million. Among the debts is
the staggering revelation that Portsmouth
owe money to Spurs over former goalkeeper
Begovic - even though he never played for
the north London club. During the final days
of the January transfer window it is thought
that, when Portsmouth sold Younes Kaboul to
Tottenham in January, the club negotiated
a double deal which included Begovic.
Tiger Woods
added two more tournaments Wednesday to a
schedule that is not much different from previous
years except for the timing. Woods entered
The Players Championship and the AT&T
National, which benefits his foundation. It
was the second straight week that Woods made
an early commitment to a PGA Tour event, allowing
it more time to promote his appearance. For
years, the world's No. 1 player waited until
the last few days before signing up. Woods
missed five months while caught in a sex scandal
that shattered his image and cost him three
major endorsements. He returned at the Masters,
where he tied for fourth.
