Gilbert
Arenas was suspended without pay Wednesday
by NBA commissioner David Stern, who determined
the player's behavior made him "not currently
fit to take the court." A day after the
Washington Wizards guard was photographed
before a game in Philadelphia pointing his
index fingers, as if they were guns, at his
teammates, Stern warned the former All-Star
that his conduct will "ultimately result
in a substantial suspension, and perhaps worse."
An
Australian KFC advert depicting West Indies
cricket fans has been blasted as racist in
the US. In the advert a white cricket fan
tells viewers it is "too easy" to
calm an unruly mob of Windies fans by sharing
a bucket of fried chicken with them. The advert,
which was posted on YouTube, attracted over
2,700 comments in three weeks with outraged
critics who say that KFC is perpetuating a
stereotype that African Americans eat a lot
of fried chicken, News Ltd is reporting.
Patrick
Vieira has played his final match with Inter
Milan and is planning a return to England
with Manchester City. The former Arsenal midfielder
wants to cement his place on France's World
Cup squad and is counting on new City manager
- and former Inter coach - Roberto Mancini
for help. Vieira told Canal Plus that it was
"important for me is to go to Manchester
City, to show the coach that I am the same
as I was during the time when he was at Inter."
The 33-year-old Vieira has played in 12 of
18 Serie A matches this season and appeared
for only 23 minutes during Inter's six Champions
League group games.
Real
Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain admits he would
love to finish his playing career with the
La Liga giants at the Bernabeu. Higuain has
been a big hit since joining the Spanish giants
from River Plate midway through the 2006/07
season, developing a habit of scoring crucial
goals and last season finishing at the club's
top scorer with 22 strikes in La Liga. The
22-year-old Argentinian has continued that
form this campaign as well, and in his last
nine league matches he has netted 10 goals,
leaving him above the likes of team-mates
Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Kaka and
Raul in the scoring charts.
