An
autopsy conducted Tuesday on a 2-year-old
boy who plunged from a skybox after a Los
Angeles Lakers game determined that his death
was an accident. Police and paramedics said
Lucas Anthony Tang suffered massive head injuries
in the Sunday night fall at Staples Center,
but Los Angeles County coroner's Capt. John
Kades said the official cause of death was
multiple traumatic injuries. The toddler fell
from a third-level luxury box and landed on
a row of seats minutes after the Lakers beat
the Golden State Warriors. He died at a hospital.
Steven
Gerrard is embracing his rehabilitation process
from a hamstring injury with great determination,
says Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson. Gerrard will
be missing for up to a month after suffering
the injury in England's defeat by France last
week. Hodgson said: "He's straight into
it and he's anxious to get back as quickly
as possible.”He's not letting any dust
settle but I don't think there's so much he
can do at the moment. "First of all he
has to let the injury quieten down and then
really start to work on it."
UEFA
was studying the match referee's report on
Wednesday before deciding whether to charge
Real Madrid players Xabi Alonso and Sergio
Ramos for appearing to get intentional red
cards in a Champions League match against
Ajax. Alonso and Ramos both collected second
cautions for time wasting late in Real's 4-0
win at the Amsterdam Arena on Tuesday. Neither
player protested the red cards and Ramos even
shook hands with Scottish referee Craig Thomson
before walking off the pitch.
Kumar Sangakkara
continued to make batting look easy on the
second afternoon of the second Test, as he
completed his 24th Test century to take Sri
Lanka to 294 for five, when rain forced a
premature end to proceedings at the R Premadasa
Stadium in Colombo. The Sri Lanka captain
ensured that that the hosts continued to stride
towards a good first innings total, despite
the loss of Thilan Samaraweera and Angelo
Mathews to some excellent sustained pressure
from the West Indies fast men.
