Police
Brutality
It
hurts me to know and see that the people of
St.Lucia, whose job is to protect their citizens,
are those abusing them.
The major role of the police is to maintain
order in a country, by keeping the peace through
the enforcement of laws.
They also function to discourage and investigate
crimes, with particular emphasis on crime
against people, property, or the law
. In order to maintain public order, police
have legal authority to apprehend suspected
persons of crimes, keep them in custody, and
then inform the appropriate authorities.
But today, instead of the policemen doing
their job which is to protect people’s
lives, they are the ones taking it away. What
a disgrace!
Police brutality is one of several forms of
police misconduct, which include false arrest,
intimidation, sexual and verbal abuse, and
police corruption.
The policemen in St.Lucia are too quick to
point their guns.
Like I mentioned earlier, the role of police
officers is to maintain order by enforcing
laws but these same police officers are driving
without seat belts, breaking traffic lights,
indulging in child molestation and most recent;
the shooting and killing.
How do we as citizens of St.Lucia expect these
police officers to fight and maintain the
crime level if they do not pay any attention
to the laws which they are required to enforce?
If you or someone you care about has been
a victim of police brutality, do not hesitate
to discuss your experience with an understanding
attorney.
Police authorities and government are responsible
for holding police officers accountable for
abusive acts.
Nobody should have to suffer unfair treatment
at the hands of our police men . Your decision
to fight for justice with a police brutality
lawyer may result in a higher awareness of
police brutality in St.Lucia and compensation
for your suffering.
