Is abstinence out of style?
January 30th 2010

We’ve often times heard the term ‘sex sells’, Jamaican dance hall artiste, Busy Signal recently released a singled with this title. We went to the streets to find out how some random folks thought about abstinence and here’s what they had to say:

Kim: No. I believe in marriage before sex. I believe that was how it was meant to be. Because I was brought up in a broken home and would not want my kids to experience the same.

Kervin: Yes. For young girls it’s a money making avenue because they like flashy things. There are lots of young mothers who strive to gain the affection, love and security of a man and hence make a child with him to prove their love and most times have to sustain these children with the help of another man, who most times are just there for the ride. It’s a sad reality but that’s the way it is.

Rolando: Yes. A lot of girls are just curious and hear about their friends who are sexually involved. They are hence, influenced by them and build themselves a reputation and maintain it.

Jessy: Yes. Women are portrayed as sex symbols in songs, movies, even how they dress to go out. To look sexy is to have more skin out and as little fabric as you can wear. They often times attract the wrong attention and portray themselves as the women they are not.

Samantha: Yes. From the first time I felt it I liked it. Sex is the sweetest thing God designed. How could it be wrong? We should feel free to express our sexuality.

You've heard what these people have to say. What do u think? Post your opinion below!!
